The First Good Experience With The Government
Getting things done with the government is about as fun as pulling teeth, as B is demonstrating in this photo. In this case, we were pleasantly surprised!
After picking up today’s mail, we noticed a curious package from the US Government. We eagerly ripped open the priority mail envelope and found that we had just received little B’s passport! Given last year’s problems with passport delays and the Canada/Mexico border passport requirement, we were expecting sluggish response (at best) from the US passport office.
Instead, we were treated to record-breaking speed; the total elapsed time between submission of her passport application and receipt of the passport was nine (9) days! It’s a good thing that we didn’t request expedited service, or else I fear that we might have received the passport a few days before we submitted the application.
As a side note, little B’s FBI file is probably pretty small, so I imagine that they didn’t need to waste any time running a criminal record check…
