Babyproofing Mark II
SFBaby is almost ready to crawl! You can see her in the “ready, set, go” position to your right. Although she does not exactly have the crawling motion down yet, it’s now almost impossible to keep her in the same place on (say) the cuddly blanket that we’ve set out for her on our otherwise-hard floor. She’s quite capable of micro-catapulting herself towards something that she finds interesting, albeit in slow and jerky jumps.
With that in mind, one of the big tasks over the last week has been to finish babyproofing the house. You may recall from several weeks ago that SFDad installed cabinet latches throughout the place (which are not as fast to install as one might have hoped).
While we are still not done, SFDad and SFMom made significant progress last weekend in the front part of the house, including: rearranging furniture in the living room to hide outlets and block other objects that might topple over (much to the chagrin of the friend who helped us decorate our living room); removing the casters from heavy objects that really ought not to be rolling anywhere; rearranging cables that pose strangulation risks; and deporting poisonous plants.
Needless to say, we are looking forward (?) to spending yet another weekend babyproofing the back of the house. If we had known how much work this was going to be, perhaps we would have started when both SFMom and SFDad were still at home…

Did SFdad pose SFbaby? See you all soon.
Nope, there are no poseurs here–this is 100% pure SFBaby! The only thing SFDad admits to is tossing the green toy around to give SFBaby a “target” to crawl after. The drool is 100% pure SFBaby too.
Katie is still tripoding – not so interested in moving very far. but yikes. I see my future. great. hadn’t even thought of strangulation….
I still need to finish babyproofing. Good job!
We are also in the middle of babyproofing -just removed my nailpolish remover from the bathroom cabinet that baby loved to clear out … We also had a lot of cables and didn’t know what to do. Finally, we took a cotton bag (from Hugendubel book store in Munich) and put all cables in there with a tight knode. Now baby can play with it and is safe. We still have to figure out how to prevent her from devouring our shoes …
happy babyproofers, too
