SFBaby’s first attempt at drinking from a bottle on her own wasn’t too bad, but since she always likes a challenge, she spontaneously tried upgrading to the adult-sized Klean Kanteen. We were surprised that she was even able to lift it up (given that it was full of water at the time). Although the canteen is not technically child-proof, I grant that the screw top would be difficult to operate for someone who just learned how to use her pointer finger this week.

Now that B is doing solid foods, we’re also feeding her water at dinner time…from a glass. Thus far, we haven’t felt the need to splurge on a sippy cup. I understand that they are all the rage, but one part of me likes the thought of getting B trained to use a real cup from an early age. I’m sure that there will be plenty of accidents, but something grates on my nerves ever so slightly when I see a four-year old running around carrying a sippy cup.

(I’ll be sure to go back and reflect on this sentiment after our first tomato-juice-all-over-the-white-carpet incident.)
