First Words Redux
On those mornings when SFDad is not going to the gym, SFMom tries to go into work early (and tries to get up even earlier) to get things done. Thus, SFDad is generally trying to find ways to lay in bed while distracting SFBaby.
When SFBaby first wakes up, the first thing she typically asks for is mama. And after that, she asks for mama’s milk. Neither of these work particularly well when SFMom is in the shower, so in an act of desperation, SFDad caved and starting gaving the iPhone to the baby to play with.
This seems to have backfired, since SFBaby now walks up to us and provides the following first words to start off the day: “Mama……milk………iPhone”. SFDad notes that SFBaby has inadvertently omited “dada” from her list of demands, but he is chalking it up as an accidental oversight.
In any event, SFBaby has also gotten quite good at identifying iPhones when we are out and about in the world. It’s hard to ride BART or Muni without daddy’s little helper announcing every iPhone she sees.
PS: Does anyone know of any good (and ideally free) iPhone apps for babies?

I love my picture. Thank you Daddy!
That made my morning….now you know why someone invented pbs kids starting at 6am, which in my opinion is not early enough sometimes. Maybe you can download some sesame street songs on itunes and have her listen to those on the iphone? There’s “Rubber Ducky” by Ernie and “Doing the Pigeon” by Bert. The only downside is that those songs will be in your head the rest of the day and bathtime will never be the same again. Oh, and ignore any suggestions about having a sibling so that they will entertain each other. That takes at least a year or more for it to work.

My own SFBaby girl is about 2 weeks older than yours (Born March 2), and is also *crazy* about the iPhone. Her favorite thing to look at is a musical slide show that I put together using Windows Movie Maker (it’s free). It’s a video of still images of our family taken over the last 12 months. She loves looking at photos in general, but the “music video” raises the joy to a higher level.
I admit that one of SFBaby’s favorite pastimes is also watching videos of herself on SFDad.com!
